In 2005, the Hong Kong Red Cross Youth Development Service launched the Hong Kong Red Cross University Club (RCU), aimed at cultivating university students into young humanitarian leaders.

The International service programme is an annual signature event initiated by the executive committee of the Hong Kong Red Cross University Club (RCU). The programme aims to organize a team of university students to provide service overseas. The team will be responsible for the entire project, and through pre-trip preparations, they will actively learn about local livelihood issues and humanitarian conditions. Students will also equip themselves with relevant knowledge in order to organize activities that promote physical, mental, spiritual well-being and educational programme to vulnerables in the community. Nepal Inclusive and Resilient Community Project conducted in Jun 2024 could be one of the successful examples.

Additionally, we have established an internship program with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to allow university students to gain firsthand experience of the humanitarian work carried out by the Federation in their respective regions.

After returning to Hong Kong, the youth delegates will share their experiences and insights with other  students, raising awareness and concern among students on international humanitarian agenda.

Number of participants: around 30

Service target: Local university students, Overseas Vulnerable

Please support Hong Kong Red Cross University Club (RCU) International Service/ Internship Programme, and facilitate students to develop caring and concern projects on humanitarian issues by planning, organizing and implementing overseas services, so as to nurture the youth as a power of humanitarian service.
