Since early October 2023, the escalation of Israel and Gaza Strip conflict has brought immense human suffering that are rarely seen in recent years. The intensive armed conflict has resulted in over 10,000 deaths and tens of thousands of people injured by now. At least 1.4 million people have been displaced. Towns, hospitals, and even shelters in Israel and the Gaza Strip have become targets of attacks.

Humanitarian Crisis in Afghanistan
In October 2023, Herat province in western Afghanistan was struck by three massive earthquakes with magnitude greater than 6 in less than two weeks, with multiple aftershocks in between. Over 2,400 people have been killed and it is estimated that 560,000 people have been affected by the earthquakes. Entire villages have been flattened with some 2,000 houses reported to have been destroyed or damaged. As winter nears, the necessity for expedited rescue and recovery efforts is more pressing than ever.

Libya Floods 2023
North-eastern Libya was ravaged by Storm Daniel on 10 September. Unleashing powerful winds and torrential rainfall, the storm triggered massive floods along the coast, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Infrastructure, medical facilities, and communication systems have been brought down by the floodwaters, exacerbated by winds reaching speeds of up to 80km per hour. The catastrophic event has resulted in deaths of thousands of people, with 10,000 people reported missing and 30,000 displaced. The disaster has affected a staggering total of nearly 1.6 million people.

Morocco Earthquake 2023
An earthquake of 6.8 magnitude struck Morocco, North Africa with the epicenter in the High Atlas Mountains near Marrakesh on 8 September 2023. This is the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Morocco for nearly a century. At least 2,900 people were killed and over 5,500 people were injured, with the numbers expected to rise in the coming days. Over 380,000 people are estimated to be severely affected.
