Beneficiaries
Target Number: 100 volunteers aged 50 or above, with a combination of 64 returning volunteers from the 2024-2025 year and 30 newly recruited volunteers in 2025. These volunteers will be trained to serve effectively, fostering a sense of community and purpose.
Elderly Residents in Residential Homes
Total Beneficiaries: 2,576 person-times of engagement among elderly individuals residing in various residential homes throughout the project duration.
Number of Visits: A total of 178 visits will be conducted, ensuring that a significant number of elderly residents receive support and engagement through the activities organized by the volunteers.

A) Objectives
- To train up the elderly to become volunteers who embody the values of the RC, promoting their well-being and cultivating strong service skills;
- To enhance quality of life among the elderly volunteers;
- To enhance mental health among the elderly in the residential homes.

C) Content
- Volunteer Training: Equip hundred volunteers aged 50 and above with essential service skills and knowledge to effectively engage with elderly residents. The training will emphasize first aid, disaster preparedness, elderly exercise, social and mental health awareness, and Red Cross values.
- Quality of Life Enhancement: Improve the overall quality of life for elderly volunteers by fostering social connections, providing meaningful engagement opportunities, and promoting active participation in community service.
- Mental Wellness Support: Address and enhance the mental health of elderly individuals residing in residential homes through structured volunteer-led activities designed to foster social interaction, creativity, and engagement.
Brief Implementation Plan
The implementation of the Joyful V Project will be divided into two main components: Training for Volunteers and Direct Service to elderly residential homes.
- Training for Volunteers
The training program for new and existing volunteers will be categorized into several key areas:
- Elderly Exercise and Social/Mental Health: Training will focus on promoting physical health and awareness of mental health issues among the elderly.
- Orientation and Services Skills: Orientation sessions will introduce RC values, while workshops on event planning, game design, and team building will equip volunteers with essential service delivery skills.
- Specialized Training for Existing Volunteers: Existing volunteers will receive additional training in tabletop games, handcraft activities, and fall prevention exercises, ensuring they are well-prepared to support the elderly community effectively.
- Direct Service
The direct service component aims to engage elderly residents in a variety of meaningful activities, including:
2.1. Large Group Visits: To conduct events where volunteers can interact with multiple residents simultaneously, fostering community spirit.
2.2. Individual Visits / Tabletop Games: To have two volunteers visit one elderly resident at a time, providing deeper engagement and personalized care while encouraging social interaction..
2.3. Handcraft Small Groups: To facilitate small groups focused on creative activities, promoting socialization and skill development.
2.4. Services in Mental Recovery Hostels: To extend support to elderly individuals in mental health facilities by offering tailored activities designed to meet their specific needs.
2.5. Outdoor Engagement Activities: To promote physical well-being through outdoor activities that enhance the overall quality of life for the elderly.
