Over the past decade, the world has been continuously affected by extreme weather events such as heatwaves, droughts, floods, and typhoons, affecting up to 1.7 billion people, with over 410,000 lives lost as a result. On the other hand, the indirect impacts of climate change include crop failures leading to food shortages, disease spread, residents' livelihoods being affected due to the destruction of their homes, and various other issues that cannot be ignored.

With the extreme weather brought about by climate change, heatwaves, super typhoons, and heavy rain frequently occur in Hong Kong – it is undoubtedly true that climate change has had profound impacts on each and every one of us. Hong Kong Red Cross has been focusing on the disasters caused by climate change, providing much-needed disaster response assistance to those affected by the climate, ensuring their safety, and assisting in the rebuilding of affected homes.

In addition to responding to disasters, it is important to raise public awareness of climate change affection and build sustainable lifestyles. Although climate change brings uncertainty to our future, Hong Kong Red Cross continues tirelessly organizing various activities to educate the general public, empower our future generation to act for humanity in their daily lives. Therefore, Hong Kong Red Cross is committed to promoting climate change education, cultivating children's environmental awareness and teaching them about climate change and action capabilities.
